BioZone is home to over 2,000 square metres of laboratory space dedicated to industrial and environmental biotechnology.
Our labs are used by BioZone trainees (graduate students, post-docs, research associates, and technicians) working under the supervision of BioZone Principal Investigators.
Access to common equipment, such as incubators, autoclaves, plate-readers, and anaerobic chambers, is available to other University of Toronto trainees on a subscription basis. Please contact us to learn more.
Specialized equipment is available for use by non-BioZone groups at the University of Toronto on a fee-for-service basis:
- Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation measurement (QCM-D)
- Ion Chromatographs (IC) for analysis of common cations and anions in aqueous solution
- Asymmetric Field-Flow Fractionation (AsF4) for chromatography-like analysis of colloids
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with refractive index (RI), spectrophotometric (UV-VIS), and amperometric detection (PAD)
- Microcalorimeter (TAM III) for stability screening and measuring binding reactions
