Our Vision and Mission
BioZone's vision is to transform biology and engineering for a sustainable society. We use the latest advances in microbiology, protein engineering, synthetic biology, machine learning, genomics, and related fields to solve problems in industrial and environmental biotechnology, with a special focus on anaerobic microbial technology and conversion of waste to valuable materials.
While our work seeks to address fundamental, curiosity-driven research questions, we are motivated by the real-world challenges and impacts of these fields, and seek to partner with external collaborators wherever possible.

Our Values
- Provide a focal point for the best and brightest minds to collaborate on pressing problems affecting the environment, industry, and human health.
- Foster innovation, creativity, imagination, and social responsibility in our students, with state-of-the-art equipment and a supportive, inclusive research environment that allows them to reach their full potential.
- Take an Open Science approach to research partnerships, prioritizing the publication of the results of our research over patenting or commercialization.
- Reduce barriers to knowledge and technology transfer, and to maximize the impact of our work on the wider world.
